A Promise Made is available now!
Even though my short story A Promise Ignited is in The Alphas of Sin anthology with a plethora of talented authors, this is only my second release and the nerves are still ever present. I keep asking if it gets easier, but many tell me it never does. It’s not for me trying though. I’ve told myself to keep cool about things, but it’s still scary.
The first book, A Promise Kept, (on sale right now for .99 cents…whaaaa?) was well received – despite the few flaws I now look back and cringe over. People loved Marla and Josh in that novel and asked for their story. This is it. The expectations may be high, or they may think this wasn’t what they wanted, but this is how the characters spoke to me. I only hope others enjoy it the way I enjoyed figuring out their lives.
Marla Sullivan is a woman who knows how to take care of herself. She’s independent and has gotten used to being alone. The idea of relinquishing control to a man like Josh McKenzie is something she’s not willing to do with ease. Josh McKenzie is more of a gentle giant. He knows his power, knows what he wants, and is an alpha with heart. Neither of them is what they seem to be. That’s what I love exploring in these characters. You see them one way, but peeling layers, you find them different than what they seem.
Acknowledgements have to be one of the hardest parts of writing a book because once its been done there are so many you’ve forgotten or so many others that helped out in the process long after the book has been written. Once again, on this writing journey, I couldn’t have done it without the help of my family and friends. And by friends, I mean the whole spectrum of them. From my awesome beta readers, to my amazing group of girls in Anissa’s Aces, and the readers, bloggers, my editor, cover artist, formatter, and authors… everyone has been so supportive and amazing. It’s so hard when I have to ask for help. That’s probably the roughest part of this author business for me. I’m not good at asking people for things, but the ones who have offered, who have helped, all my gratitude and thanks go out to each and every single one of you.
And since it’s November, I will go and try out NaNoWriMo – where writers try to come up with 50K worth of story in the month of November. Not sure I can necessarily do that with Zach’s story. He’s complex, and writing his story will definitely be a challenge for me. But I’ll give it my all, put my heart into it, and produce Zach’s story. You see, you all deserve the best I can give, and I hope to earn your trust enough that you’ll expect me to do that for you with each book.
Thank you to everyone who purchased, read and reviewed. It means the world to me.
